Windows98. Well, it's still Windows, but I hope this version will be more stable than '95. Got the complete Norton kit today, and it could clean the virus. Unfortuneatly, it wrecked most of the files too, which meant I had to reinstall the system anyway. But I didn't have to format the HD:s :)

Got the three Norton Rescue disks from a friend today. Unfortuneatly something was wrong with the third disk, so I had to grab an old version from a CD. Of course, the files were infected when installing, but I didn't think that would pose a problem, as I would switch to the DOS (non-infected version) as soon as I've downloaded the new virus definition file. But no, oh no. Of course WinNorton won't start if the .EXE is changed. This is lame. And I can't do it from work, because the admin has disabled port 21 (i.e. the FTP port). Seems like there is going to be a total systems reinstallation on Sunday evening/night. Which also means I'll have to reinstall all the software that's on it (a grand total of 5 Gigs). I think that is going to be a long night. Time to install a memory-resident virus monitor, because I refuse to do this again. I don't have any hard feelings against the virus programmer, I mean, it's me being totally lame not checking the software I download. It's a difference if somebody who's totally clueless when it comes to computers gets the virus, because they don't know how to protect themselves (ehh.. sounds kinda like HIV, does it not?). I do. I should have done it. I hate myself. This must be the by far lamest thing I've ever done, if You don't count programming starscrollers in QBasic on the computers in school, and running them on one complete row in one of the computer labs (Ztream can verify this ;). Anyway, this is a very much too long diary note, which means that I should do something constructive before the systems reinstall. Good night.

Have spent the last 4 hours trying to clean up my computer. It is totally infested with W32.cih.spacefiller. That's what You get for not running an anti-virus program. Unfortuneatly, neither McAfee of TBAV can clean in, F-Prot has a corrupted download (prob because the virus infects the winzip-se file while downloading), and Norton is 15 megs big. Sigh. Seems like there's going to be a complete systems installation. I hate this. Anyone knows of any product that can clean this virus, I'd be very glad. I'm not turning on my computer on the 26th since (both McAfee and TBAV reports this) the virus will try to corrupt the flash-bios (if write-enabled), and overwrite the HD with junk. This sucks. I'm so pissed. *Sigh*

Ouch. Today two days of work was wiped away, because of lack of instructions. I was told to correct a number of documents (a 4 decimeter pile if You wonder), and did so. When I stated my finishness (wow, what an unusual way of wrecking grammar), I was told that I'd corrected the wrong documents. Sigh. I'll have to do it all over again. This sucks. On the other hand, my girlfriend is coming home again. :)

Wednesday. 2 days after monday, and 2 days before friday. Which means, the day in the middle of the working week. You are gradually beginning to wake up after the extremely sleepy monday, and awaiting the friday. Saturday, everything is fine, but then comes sunday. You walk around the house just thinking that tomorrow you'll be forced to work again. Ouch. But anyway. I didn't get my well-deserved sleep yesterday. Stooped me. Gotta get it today. Before I collapse at work. Could barely keep my eyes open today. Sigh.

Monday. Again. I wish I had the excessive energy I had when I was a kid. You know, when You could wake up at 6:00am and feel like You could take on the world. Nowadays, I recommend nobody to try having a conversation with me for at least 1.5 hours after my ascend from nightly hibernating. Ohhh. The good old days. How I miss them.

Was out drinking yesterday. Returned home with lots of alcohol in my body and more money than I had when I left. Thank god for roulette. Also, today my girlfriend (fiancée) left for a 5-day skiing trip, which means I'll have the bed all by myself. Nothing bad that doesn't bring something good. :)
