EU Project Socrates Comenius 3.1

ACE, Action for Cooperation in Education, is a project to develop and share the experiences of transnational cooperation in education. Our mission is to develop and deliver a training seminar for  EU teachers.

One example is the North Sea project which was initiated in 1991. Every year English and Swedish students and teachers have visited one another and worked together with practical  research emphasizing mutual environmental problems such as acidification and eutrophication. Schools from Hungary and Poland have also participated.

We have found these exchanges very rewarding since they give our students an awareness of  problems on a European scale. Including other countries and schools has proved essential in having the students understand the European dimension of mutual issues. There has been an increasing interest in our work from local school and environmental authorities. To ensure the didactic quality of these exchanges and to encourage other teachers to make international contacts for Active Cooperation in Education, we are developing strategies and forms for transnational contacts between schools.
