ANOTHER NEW DEMO!
Its been a while, but finally a new demo. Lots of changes, new reports and it got smaller!. Well maybe not. You may now need to download 2 installations, depending on what you need. Read ON!
There are 2 Instalations to download. The Demonstration and DCOM98. If you are installing onto an NT4.0 machine , then you only need the demonstration download. If you are installing onto a Windows 98 machine, then you may first need to install the DCOM98.
Windows NT 4.0
This Demo will ONLY works with NT Service Pack 5. You will not require the DCOM install for NT.
Only download the demonstration program.
Windows 98
I have tested on Windows 98 SR1. The demonstration requires DCOM version 1.3 to be installed on a 98 machine. If you are uncertain about weather DCOM is installed on your machine, then simply download the Demonstration program. When you run the installation, it will inform you if you need to install DCOM first. If so, simply come back and download it.
Download the new demo ! (3.6 Meg Installation file)
Download DCOM98 (1.2 Meg Installation file)
Create Install Disks
If you wish to distribute this installation then download this version. When run, it will prompt you for a directory. It will then create 3 new directories ( Disk1, Disk2 , Disk3). Simply copy the contents of each directory onto a floppy disk.
Download the new demo Distribution version (3.6 Meg Installation file for Diskette distribution)
Here's some instructions.....
If you have installed a previous version .
Download the complete install. Make sure you remove the old demo first. ( go to the control panel, select 'add/ remove programs' and select 'the investigator demo'. This will remove your current installation.
Next run the new installation...
How do I install this?
Download the Installtion file . Then double click the file to run it.
Known Problems
1 minor issues that I know about.
Some Window desktop 'Themes' set the toolbar fonts so large that the menus become unusable in the Investigator. If you cannot see a 'Help' option on the top toolbar when you run the Investigator, then please select another theme for your computer. At present I am only aware of the 'Nature' theme that causes this problem.
If you have any problems with this demo please don't hesitate to email me on The_investigator@come.to . When you email me please include as much information as possible. Include the Operating system, service packs installed . Include as many details about the problem you can. Try to think of anything special about your PC ( such as an ESOE machine, development machine etc).
Remember to check back as I will update the demo with new reports as they are made, or you can email me asking to be updated when a new release is available.
