3    Connect to the internet via your internet service provider.

There are more detailed docs to find on the Internet, but this settings works for me!

3.1    Internal (memory mapped) Modems not supported by Linux

I got a new computer with a V90 internal modem, it sucks. Linux has no support for these types of modems. Before bying any modem, check the Linux compability list e.g. http://www.redhat.com. Any modems connected to your any of your serialport should work fine though.

3.2    Connect to an NT-RAS server

When everything is up and you for some reson whant to dial into a NT-RAS server, use netcfg adn setup a PAP. The NT-RAS server just waits for inout from you so that´s why the ordinary setting decribed in e.g. PPP howto´s dont´t work.

3.2.1    Example files

No way! but use netcfg to set up PPP propperly. Use settings as they are for like set route default blabla. When this is done dial using if-up and close the connection with if-down (Redhat 5.1).
