PELK, Lighting and energy consultants, was established in 1969. The intention was to plan and
develop integrated lighting and HVAC-systems to suit the ergonomical and economical demands
Soon the focus fell upon the development of planing methods and lighting systems since
the lighting and daylighting heavily effects the energy balance of the building. From the very
beginning a great deal of PELK´s assignment have concerned the lighting of the workplace. These assignment include assessment of existing lighting installations functional suitability for the visual
tasks and specifying improvements of lighting and visual environment.
The ”visual perception”- field has also included a number of educational courses where our clients
have been among State bodies and institutions as well as private companies concerned with
employees health.
The second area of activity is design of lighting systems for new and old industrial and office
buildings as well as public buildings such as supermarkets, airports etc.
A third area is development and design of lighting systems and fixtures for leading Scandinavian
manufactures such as Ateljé Lyktan, Boréns, Fagerhult, Jacobsson, Louis Poulsen and Thorn.
PELK has a staff of 12 consulting engineers with offices in Stockholm, Helsinki and Sheffield,
working with planning and design of lighting systems, daylighting, building energy balance, visual perception problems and design of lighting optics.
